BLADEN COUNTY, NC (WECT) ? The girls at Booker T. Washington Primary school have accepted the challenge to train and prepare for a 5K race by the end of the school year.
In response to the challenge, the girls have formed the first ever Bladen County Girls on the Run program.
Girls on the Run is a non-profit organization dedicated to creating a world where each girl knows and activates her potential to pursue her dreams.
The club will meet twice a week after school to learn more about life skills through dynamic conversation-based lessons and running games.
Running is used to inspire and motivate the girls and encourage lifelong health and fitness.
Completing a 5K gives them a tangible sense of achievement.
