KABUL ? Several senior Afghan officials were killed in a wave of assassinations around Afghanistan, including a prominent ethnic Uzbek politician, a top police chief and a senior army commander who were slain Saturday in an apparent suicide bombing.
Several of the incidents occurred in relatively peaceful areas of the country, renewing fears of intensified conflict after the withdrawal of most foreign troops is completed in 2014.
